Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about ASC Pest Control, our services, compliance programmes and service areas, answered clearly.
About ASC Pest Control
Which pests do you handle?
We handle cockroaches (German & American), rodents (rats & mice), flies, ants, termites, bed bugs, fleas, mosquitoes, stored-product pests and spiders, plus hospital-grade disinfection, all delivered under an Integrated Pest Management framework. If you have a pest not listed here, contact us, we can advise.
Do you serve both commercial and residential clients?
Yes. We protect family homes and regulated commercial and industrial sites, food & beverage, healthcare, hospitality, retail and warehousing, across the Eastern Cape and Gauteng. The same trained technicians service both sectors, with programmes tailored to each environment.
Are your treatments safe for families, pets and food areas?
Yes. Our IPM approach uses targeted, registered products applied by trained technicians, with methods aligned to food-safety and infection-prevention standards. We advise on any necessary precautions before treatment, including re-entry times, ventilation requirements and food preparation surface management, so your family, pets and facility remain protected throughout the process.
How long has ASC Pest Control been operating?
ASC Pest Control has been protecting homes and businesses in the Eastern Cape since 2015. Our team brings decades of combined experience in Integrated Pest Management and compliance documentation across a wide range of regulated industries.
Are your technicians trained and registered?
Yes. All ASC technicians are trained, registered and operate under strict safety and quality protocols aligned to South African pest control industry standards. Our technicians hold the relevant pesticide applicator training and operate with full professional indemnity.
Our Treatments & Approach
What is Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?
IPM is a science-led approach combining inspection, sanitation advice, structural proofing, monitoring devices and targeted treatment, controlling pests with the least necessary chemical intervention, fully documented for compliance. It is the internationally recognised standard for pest management in food, healthcare and regulated environments, and it underpins every ASC programme.
How long does a treatment take?
Treatment duration depends on the size of your property and the pest involved. A standard residential visit takes 45–90 minutes. Commercial sites are assessed individually and scheduled to minimise operational disruption, we can work outside business hours if required.
Do I need to leave my home or business during treatment?
For most treatments, you can remain on-site. We will advise if temporary evacuation is required for specific treatments, such as fogging or fumigation, and confirm re-entry times in advance. We always communicate clearly before any treatment that might require temporary absence.
How many treatments will I need?
For some infestations, a single knockdown treatment is sufficient followed by a verification visit. For ongoing protection, especially on commercial and regulated sites, we recommend a scheduled maintenance programme with regular monitoring visits. The frequency (monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly) is determined by your site’s risk profile and audit requirements.
Do you offer hospital-grade disinfection?
Yes. Our disinfection service uses hospital-grade registered disinfectants applied by ULV cold fogging and manual surface disinfection. We observe prescribed dwell times to ensure complete pathogen kill-off, and we issue a certificate of disinfection for each treatment, providing documentary evidence for healthcare governance, food safety programmes and facility management records.
Audit & Documentation Support
Do you provide compliance and audit documentation?
Yes, every ASC compliance programme includes site maps, numbered device registers, monthly trend reports, corrective-action logs, service certificates and threshold-based escalation reports, aligned to HACCP, BRCGS and FSSC 22000. Documentation is structured to satisfy the specific clause requirements of your audit standard and is available on request at any time.
Which audit standards do you support?
ASC programmes are aligned to HACCP, BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety (Clause 4.13) and FSSC 22000. We also support ISO 22000 and custom site-specific requirements. If your facility is audited to a different standard, contact us, we can assess alignment and design a programme accordingly.
Can you attend our audit?
Yes. We can attend pre-audit walkthroughs, provide documentation packs on the day and respond to corrective-action findings within agreed timeframes. Speak to your account manager to arrange audit attendance, we recommend scheduling this at least two weeks before your audit date.
How quickly do you issue corrective-action records?
Corrective-action records are issued within 24 hours of an identified finding. Critical pest activity, live rodents, evidence of gnawing in food areas, active cockroach infestation in production zones, triggers immediate escalation and a same-day response protocol, with a formal corrective-action notice issued the same business day.
What is threshold-based escalation?
When pest activity exceeds a pre-agreed trigger level, for example, more than two rodent droppings at a bait station, or fly catch counts above a defined threshold, an escalation protocol is automatically activated. This increases treatment frequency, adjusts the baiting strategy and issues a formal corrective-action notice with a resolution timeline, preventing minor activity from becoming a major audit finding.
